Kristen + Nate Adams
Growing up, Kristen showed her Labrador retriever in 4-H Obedience and Conformation. When she was close to graduating with her Masters degree she decided to reward herself with a purebred dog she could get back into dog sports with. She began researching various breeds and finally settled on the Siberian Husky.
In early 2014, she found Karen + Dominic Potts of Jo-Kar Siberians who happened to have a litter sired by the top show dog of the year. At the time she wasn’t interested in showing and really just wanted to get into obedience and agility.
In April 2014, Kristen + Nate traveled to Ohio to pick out their puppy. They ended up going with the one who was the better mover (and who immediately picked Nate) since that would translate better for agility in the future. When they were leaving, Karen mentioned that if they ever wanted to show her that she was nice enough and to just let her know.
Kristen immediately enrolled Luna in various obedience classes and got to work on this obedience/agility dream. On the last day of the last puppy class, she had a moment where Luna and her were going around the ring practicing heeling and Luna was moving so effortlessly that she just decided on the spot that she wanted to try showing her.
Kristen started showing Luna that fall and instantly became hooked. She later dragged Nate along to enough shows and classes that he started dabbling in showing and also became just as hooked! Luna obtained her Championship, becoming their very first Champion in July of 2016. Showing has taken them all over the Country for All-Breed and Specialty conformation shows.
In 2021 Kristen + Nate started looking into moving to a location that would allow for them to get into Dog Sledding with the dogs. In April 2023, that dream became a reality when they relocated from the Midwest to Northern New Hampshire. Their goal is to prove their dogs in the show ring and on the sled trail by earning both AKC Champion titles and Sled Dog titles on their dogs.
Our dogs are first and foremost, members of our family. They enjoy time both inside and outside of our home. We believe in the importance of proper obedience training, socialization, and getting our dogs involved in various activities outside of showing. We are also active in taking our dogs to handling class, hiking, bikejoring, and participating in handling seminars. We regard the health, condition, and presentation of our dogs important aspects in assessing the total package.
We are dedicated to the longevity of the Siberian Husky breed. We believe in the importance of health testing, understanding and researching pedigrees, knowing our breed, knowing our breed standard and knowing our dogs inside and out. To us, temperament, movement, structure and health are the fundamentals of a great working dog and therefore a great Siberian Husky both in the show ring and inside our home.
